Ian Doherty, Top 100 Supplier Influencer
Ian Doherty, Owlett-Jaton’s CEO, has been nominated as one of the top 100 most influential people within the builders merchant supply sector.
The Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) and Builders Merchants News (BMN) publication have come together to shine a spotlight on the Top 100 Supplier Influencers across the builders merchant sector.
Ian said: “I am delighted that I, and Owlett-Jaton, have been recognised as a key supplier to the Builders’ Merchant trade.
Builders merchants are a vital part of the supply chain, and making the list of Top 100 Supplier Influencers is a great achievement for the whole Owlett-Jaton team.
It is a privilege to be voted for and included within such a strong list of individuals”.
Owlett-Jaton works closely with many buying groups within the sector and are key suppliers to a vast number of builders merchants across the UK.
To be nominated, individuals must be still working within the industry and meet key criteria in four categories. The categories included involvement, presence, charity and community work, and commitment to the industry as a whole. Individuals must also be involved with buying groups and trade associations and attend industry events. Nominations were made by a multitude of buying groups.
Following an extensive career in distributive businesses, Ian joined Owlett-Jaton in 2016. Ian brings a passion for customer service along with extensive hands-on experience in sales, marketing and supply chain operations.
In addition to his role at Owlett-Jaton, Ian is also currently Chairman of the British and Irish Association of Fastener Distributors (BIAFD) and their representative to the European Federation of Distributor Associations (EFDA). He is also the fasteners and fixings expert for the Builders Merchant Building Index (BMBI).
John Newcomb CEO of the BMF, said: “The BMF is proud to represent a building materials industry that encompasses merchants and their suppliers in equal measure, and recognise that merchants and suppliers are essentially two halves of the same whole.
“After the success of last year’s Top 100 Merchant Influencers we’re delighted to be partnering with BMN again in 2023 to highlight the achievements of the Top 100 Supplier Influencers.
“Shining a light on individuals who go above and beyond in their service to our industry, this new accolade will reflect the positive influence each of the 100 individuals selected has both on the people around them and on the wider building materials industry.”
BMN’s Associate Publisher, Lucyanne Matthews, added: “Once again Builders’ Merchants News is excited to partner with the Builders Merchants Federation to recognise and celebrate the most influential people in the industry; this time highlighting the experience and commitment that the many individuals who work for construction product manufacturers have for the sector.
“They have all shown how proactive they are across many different platforms that reach the merchant sector whether this be through engagement with buying groups, the federation or by working closely with the many charities that represent our industry”.
All nominations will be featured in a commemorative brochure and invited to attend a celebratory gala dinner on the 25th of May, 2023 at The Belfry, Sutton Coldfield.
